Oneonta Rotary participated in the 2025 CANstruction competition from March 22-30. Teams built structures out of cans of food. Awards were given for Best Use of Labels, Most Cans, Best Meal, Best Construction, and the People's Choice. At the end of the competition, the structures were disassembled and the cans of food donated to The Hunger Coalition to distribute to Otsego County food pantries. Our structure, the Rotary Wheel, was comprised of 890 cans of soup, fruit and tuna and won Best Use of Labels. Overall the twelve competitors contributed 9,000 cans of food weighing 7,500 lbs. at a cost of $13,000! The competition was organized by SUNY Oneonta's Volunteer and Community Engagement Program. We are grateful to Hannaford Supermarket for their donation and support.
